On April 9th, Ottawa Police arrested a 46-year-old man who had been prohibited from driving for more than two decades. The man was apprehended in the vicinity of Woodroffe and Baseline.
Since 2000, the driver had been suspended from operating a motor vehicle. In the past, he had also been convicted six times for driving while suspended and four times for driving without insurance.
Upon arrest, the officer charged the man with both offenses and impounded his vehicle until his scheduled court appearance in August. If found guilty of this repeat offence, the man could face a minimum fine of $15,000 for driving without insurance.
