Next procurement stage getting underway for Ottawa Hospital’s new Civic Campus

The next stage of the procurement process is getting underway for The Ottawa’s Hospital (TOH) new campus.

This is part of the TOH’s Civic Campus Redevelopment Project, the construction of a new Civic Campus.

The new campus aims to provide a full range of specialized programs and outpatient clinics with plans to integrate Indigenous health and healing practices.

The chief executive officer (CEO) and president of TOH, Cameron Love, said the hospital is thrilled to enhance care for the Ottawa and surrounding communities in the near future.

“The Ottawa Hospital is proud to provide world-class care, exceptional service, and compassion for the patients and families we serve at all our sites,” he added.

The new campus aims to alleviate some of the recent pressures such as long wait times, and staff shortages seen in Ottawa’s healthcare facilities. In August, the TOH ranked third having the longest hospital wait times in the eastern Ontario region.

A recent report, released by CUPE’s Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU/CUPE), also indicated that the provincial government needs to improve staffing levels and bed capacity by 22 per cent each to meaningfully address patient needs over the next four years.

The TOH’S new campus will feature 641 inpatient beds and nearly 100 critical care beds.

Infrastructure Ontario, TOH and the development partner will then enter into a development phase, during which all three organizations will work together to further refine the project and complete the design.

The Request for Proposals was issued on Nov.29, 2022.
