Ottawa OPP nab uninsured G2 driver speeding on Highway 417

A driver has been handed a hefty fine and multiple charges after been stopped by provincial police on Highway 417 in Ottawa.
Officers with the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped the G2 driver shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17.
The OPP clocked the driver going 141 km/h, located open cannabis inside the vehicle and discovered the individual was uninsured.

The driver has been charged with speeding, operate a motor vehicle without insurance, drive a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, improper tires and several other charges.
The driver now faces a minimum $5,000 fine for not having insurance upon conviction and their vehicle was impounded.
The person is set to appear in court on September 6, 2024.
