Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid multiple charges after stopping the vehicle for stunt driving in Kanata.
According to OPP, the young driver — with a G1 license — has been charged with the following:
- Driving while under suspension
- Person under 19 possessing cannabis
- Person under 19 possessing liquor
- G1 license holder unaccompanied by qualified driver and failing to have insurance card
The motorist was stopped shortly after 6 p.m. on July 23, on Eagleson Road and Palomino Drive.
They were given a roadside 30-day driver’s license suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound, said OPP. The driver is scheduled to appear in court and is facing a minimum $2,000 fine and six demerit points.
Additionally, they will receive a one-year driving suspension upon conviction for stunt driving, alone.
OPP East Region is urging residents to slow down and drive sober, in efforts to prevent the devastating outcomes of impaired driving.
