It’s a chilly start to the week in the nation’s capital as wind from the northwest cools down the city.
This week has been below normal high and low temperatures for this time a year, according to data from Environment Canada.
On Monday temperatures reached a high of 16.2 C, as rain showers fluctuated on and off throughout the day. The wind gusts from the northwest made the supposedly late August afternoon feel more like leaves should be falling to the ground.
Tuesday is expected to be similar with the high reaching to 18 C, as wind blows from the northwest continuing to bring chilly weather to Ottawa.
Normals for this time of year should hover around 24 C with lows around 14 C. Overnight temperatures have been dropping below the minimum lows closer to 12 C and 10 C.
Wednesday will be around 18 C with a chance of rain. Overnight it will continue to be below seasonal at 10 C.
The warmer air won’t return to Ottawa until Thursday when the sun comes out and the high is expected to reach 24 C. Overnight temperatures are increasing as well, returning closer to the minimum normals for this time of year around 14 C.
On Friday humidity may start playing a factor in the jump in temperatures with an expected high of 27 C and an overnight low of 14 C — much closer to the normals for August.
