Suspect in custody after woman stabbed to death at park near Uplands Drive

Police say a suspect is behind bars after a victim was fatally stabbed at a park near Hunt Club Road.

The incident happened at 10:26 a.m. on Thursday. Police say a female was stabbed and succumbed to her injuries. She will not be identified at this time as the next of kin notification is underway, officials said.

A suspect was seen fleeing the area of Uplands Drive and Paul Anka Drive in a vehicle and was arrested on Highway 417 outside of Ottawa near exit 66 in Casselman, southeast of the nation’s capital.

The suspect is in police custody.

The investigation continues and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5493.
