In the past, if someone needed to get a permit for a renovation they had to book an appointment, gather all the papers and head to Ottawa City Hall.
Now the city has launched a new way to ease this process for homeowners and businesses. The request for a permit is online where people can fully submit and pay for an application or permit without leaving their home or work site.
The Building Code Services portal will allow people to apply and manage permits such as:
- New construction
- Renovations
- Decks and pool enclosures
- Signage
- Private road naming
- Civic number and highway name change
- Septic systems
- Agency letter of approval and municipal notifications (AGCO)
The municipality says that more options will be coming line zoon including right of way zoning, land severances, tree protection and more.
Because it’s online, people will be able to view or manage their files anywhere.
