Woman in her 20s dies after collision with pick-up truck

Police are hoping witnesses will come forward and help them understand what led to the events of a 20-year-old being killed in Ottawa’s downtown.

The incident happened July 7 around 5:40 p.m. Emergency responders were called to the intersection of Elgin Street and Laurier Avenue West, just outside Ottawa City Hall, for reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a truck.

A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

Officials are hoping more people who witnessed the collision can come forward or who have dashcam footage.
