Police looking to speak with woman a year after fatal shooting of teen

Ottawa police are hoping the public can help them identify a person who may know what happened on the evening a 17-year-old was shot and killed near the Bronson Centre.

The incident happened a year ago, on Sept. 15, at around 9:45 p.m. Quentin Dorsainvil was leaving the centre after a concert and was near the intersection of Percy and Nepean streets when shots rang out. Dorsainvil and a second victim were rushed to hospital, where the teen succumbed to his injuries. The second victim was released from hospital.

Police are saying they do not believe Dorsainvil was the intended target.

At the time, officers took one person into custody days after the shooting. Police confirmed in October 2024 that this person was charged with firearm-related offences and the investigation into their involvement was ongoing.

Now, a year later, officials are looking to speak with a woman who is described as a light-skinned Black female in her 20s.

“Homicide Unit investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for Quentin’s death,” the press release reads.

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the events of that evening, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.
