Delays on Hwy. 417 expected after wood comes loose from tractor-trailer

Emergency officials were on scene for an incident involving a tractor-trailer on Ottawa’s main highway near Pinecrest Road on Tuesday.

Provincial police said in a release that there were delays after a trailer carrying a load of wood slid through the back of the vehicle.

Officer Michael Fathi said that the tractor-trailer carrying the wood was issued a $390 fine for having an insecure load. He noted the vehicle had to stop suddenly on the highway in a construction zone, leading to the load coming loose.

This caused major traffic delays as far as Kirkwood Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. Police believe extended delays are likely throughout the day, even though the highway reopened.

Officials said no injuries have been reported.
