Child airlifted to hospital following a serious collision in south Ottawa

A boy was airlifted to the hospital by paramedics after a serious collision in south Ottawa on Friday morning.
At around 7:26 a.m., Ottawa Fire Services were called to the intersection of Nixon Drive and Dalmeny Road for a serious collision between a pickup truck and a car.
Paramedics said four patients were treated, with three men sent to hospital, and they sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. The boy was airlifted to the hospital by Ornge paramedics in serious but stable condition, said Marc-Antoine Deschamps, Superintendent of Public Information for Ottawa Paramedic Service.
According to Ottawa Fire Services, the impacted vehicles were found in the ditch with severe damage. Some people were trapped inside the vehicles when the fire department arrived.
In a post on X, Ottawa Fire Services said crews “stabilized both vehicles and began the extrication process using specialized hydraulic tools. At 7:49 a.m., Firefighters completed extrications on both vehicles, safely removing one patient from the pickup truck and two patients from the sedan.”
Ottawa Police closed Dalmeny Road between River Road and Gordon Murdock Road and advised drivers to avoid the area. This route has since been reopened.
