KINGSTON, Ont. – An Ontario court hears again today from a relative of a terrified woman found with three teenaged sisters in a car submerged in a canal.
The witness has described how Rona Amir Mohammad said her husband beat her and threatened to kill his teenaged daughters for dishonouring the family.
The witness said she tried to calm her relative, saying this is Canada, not Afghanistan, and nothing would happen.
Not long after, Mohammad and the three teens were found drowned in a car in the canal in Kingston, Ont., in June 2009.
Mohammad Shafia, his second wife and son have pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder.
