OTTAWA – One young woman from Ottawa has asked yet another celebrity to give her a hand with her organ donor campaign.
Barrhaven’s Helene Campbell appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Thursday. She was not able to travel so she appeared on the show via Skype from her new home in Toronto.
Earlier this month, the 20-year-old made a YouTube video prompting Ellen to do the “DeGeneres” thing and talk about the importance of organ donation on her show.
“Imagine if you could speak about it for two minutes, how many people would feel influenced to register and give the gift of life,” she said in a clip from the video, “if one person decides to donate their organs that’s saving eight lives.”
Soon after the video was posted, Campbell was asked to appear on the show.
In January, Campbell set twitter ablaze with thousands of tweets and re-tweets including the terms #be-an-organ-donor and be-a-donor.ca, along with Justin Bieber’s Twitter handle @justinbieber.
She had hoped for a Beiber re-tweet, which she got. In addition, the Canadian teen superstar sent Campbell a personalized message.
