A local fire station is holding its third annual St. Patrick's Day fundraiser in support of the Ottawa Rotary Home.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) Station 32, the Leitrim station, is selling t-shirts donning their logo. The logo is a 'proudly Irish design,' featuring one of the most identifiable Irish symbols -- the Claddagh ring.
"The hands signify friendship, the crown loyalty, and the heart love," said event organizer and firefighter Tim Ruddy. "As a fire station this couldn't represent us and our cause any better. The friendships and camaraderie of working together day in and day out. The loyalty and commitment to the people and community we proudly serve and the love for a job we give our hearts too."
All proceeds from t-shirts sold will be donated to the Ottawa Rotary Home, the recognized charity in Station 32's district. The t-shirts for their 2023 campaign available in short sleeve cotton, short sleeve moisture wicking and long sleeve cotton.
Anyone who wishes to order a t-shirt and support this cause can do so by emailing timruddy@hotmail.com by Monday, Feb. 13.

Ruddy tells CityNews Ottawa, while the t-shirts will make sure anyone wearing them on St. Patrick's Day looks awesome, the idea is more about raising awareness of the Ottawa Rotary Home and encouraging people to donate to a great cause.
Ruddy goes on to say he'd love to see the spirit of giving spread even further.
"Even if it's not this specific cause, look in your own backyard. There are charities in every neighbourhood that could use a helping hand."
