81-year-old man chases down thief, gets his money back

An 81-year-old man chased down a robbery suspect who allegedly snatched the man's casino winnings.
An elderly couple were at an A-T-M on Montreal Rd., and St-Laurent Blvd. to deposit their casino winnings yesterday afternoon.
Police say the two seniors were depositing the money into the A-T-M, when a man nearby said he was having issues with his debit card and asked for help.
The suspect then allegedly grabbed the envelope of cash and ran off.
The 81-year-old victim got into his car and chased the thief, cornering him in an alley.
Officials report a physical struggled ensued, and the suspect ran away – dropping the envelope of money behind.
Officers, using a description of the suspect, and a picture taken by a witness with their cellphone, arrested the suspect a short time later.
44-year-old Kevin Harris is charged with:
- Robbery with violence
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Failing to comply with a court order (undertaking)
Harris is set to appear in court today.
