Bluesfest organizers want your feedback

By Mike Vlasveld

RBC Bluesfest coordinators will eventually conduct an in-depth review of this year's event, but are hoping to hear from its patrons in the meantime.

Spokesperson Joe Reilly told 1310 NEWS' Ottawa Today that he thinks the re-configured bowl with just one main stage worked very well.  He believes it helped spread the crowd, and he didn't think the half-hour break between main stage acts created any sort of lull. Plus, the artistic budget stayed the same, meaning the festival could still attract big-name artists, and have them playing back-to-back on the same stage.

Reilly said they made the allowable bag size at the gate smaller this year, which didn't seem to be an issue.

The only challenge the festival really faced was line-ups created by the new security system on night one, but Reilly said they had similar sized crowds on following nights and they got through seamlessly.

The people who will eventually be part of Bluesfest's review are helping with the tear-down, Monday.

“We won't have any meeting to thoroughly review what worked and what needs to be tweaked until a couple of weeks from now,” said Reilly. “In fact, it might not be until the fall because everybody kind of catches their breath on this festival, and then we're all the same folks who put on City Folk in September.”
