Even though Ottawa's ice storm is practically over, some residents dealing with downed trees, as well as damaged homes and cars, are left with questions about who pays for what.
Insurance Expert Anne-Marie Thomas with InsuranceHotline.com told the Rick Gibbons Show, residents should contact their own insurance companies, but there is a catch.
“You had to have purchased comprehensive coverage,” she added. “So if a tree fell on your property, you would be paid out under the comprehensive section of your policy.”
Thomas explained that if a tree on your property landed on a neighbour's car, and they do not have comprehensive coverage, you could be facing a lawsuit.
