After a difficult year for former Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson and his wife Melinda in 2018, the two have a new reason to celebrate.
Karlsson posted a picture on Instagram around 9 p.m., Thursday, with him, his wife and their new baby in hospital.
The 29-year-old hockey player wrote:
“To my beautiful wife for doing everything in her power to bring our beautiful little baby girl in to this world, never have I met a more determined or stronger person than you. It hasn’t been easy but after the rain finally our little rainbow arrived. Love you both more than I could ever imagine.”
In 2018, the Karlsson's baby boy Axel was stillborn. The pair greived the loss of their son while dealing with an online bullying situation, all while the Senators were rumoured to be trading their then captain. The trade finally happened later that summer.
The two remain active in the Ottawa community through their anti-bullying organization, Can't Dim My Light.
