Gas prices rising on July 24 after seeing lowest levels since April

By Anil Jhalli

After some relief at the pumps with gas prices hitting the lowest levels since April, drivers will see an increase of seven cents at Ottawa gas stations on Sunday, July 24.

Roger McKnight, chief petroleum analyst at En-Pro, tweeted on Saturday, July 23 that gas prices are set to rise to 1.759 cents a litre at most Ottawa gas stations.

Drivers were able fill up their gas tanks for as low as 168.9 cents a litre or less gas stations across the city on July 23, due to a 10 cent a litre decrease over the past two days.

Gas prices in Ottawa peaked at 215.9 cents a litre in June.

The Ford government implemented a cut of the gas tax by 5.7 cents per litre in Ontario on July 1, and prices dropped 11 cents on that day.
