A whole festival dedicated to Canada's favourite game is coming to Nepean this weekend, as Rogers Hometown Hockey makes its fifth stop of the season.
NHL alumni Jason York and Chris Kelly will be special guests at the Rogers Hometown Hockey Festival, being held at Algonquin College, Saturday and Sunday. The festival will also feature live performances by local country music talent, with Brea Lawrenson on Saturday and Rainwater Whiskey on Sunday.
The festival culminates with the Rogers Hometown Hockey broadcast, Sunday evening, and an outdoor viewing party of the Ottawa Senators hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The broadcast will include a feature on Nepean's Steve Yzerman.
"(It's) he and Darren Pang, together...I'm really excited; it's sort of conversations between the two of them about Nepean," said co-host Tara Sloane. "Obviously, we'll be touching a lot on the tornadoes, and the relief efforts and all of that."
The Rogers Hometown Hockey Festival begins at noon on Saturday.
