Local Legend: Mark Charette helping Ottawans unable to cook for themselves

By CityNews Ottawa

Mark Charette, a former teacher and tech marketer, is helping Ottawa residents who have trouble feeding themselves.

Now the Communications and Marketing Manager for Food for Thought, Charette works on reducing food insecurity in Ottawa, by providing meals for those who have no kitchen or cannot cook for one reason or another.

Food for Thought is a registered charity in the city.

“In addition to us recently achieving charitable status, we've already beaten our annual meal-production goal,” says Charette. “Our vision for this year was to serve 1,000 hot, nutritious, scratch-made meals everyday, and we just passed 365,000 meals served this year [as of December 9].”

Operating out of their kitchen at 12-855 Industrial Ave., meals are prepared daily by their top chefs, using Halal ingredients.

Food for Thought has a rotating menu available to everyone who wishes to buy a meal and support their mission. Meals are $10.
