No plans for March Break? These three Ottawa museums can fix that

Some COVID-19 restrictions may have eased, making it easier for people to travel for March Break — but that doesn’t mean everyone or will.
The week-long time off from school kicked off on Monday, March 14, and for those families staying put but without any plans, there is still plenty to do to keep the kids occupied during the break.
And a few of those places with plenty of activities are the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum (otherwise known as the Experimental Farm), the Canada Science and Technology Museum and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.
“COVID has really given us an opportunity to really to think about more about staycations and all those lovely things to do in our city,” Rebecca Hickey, spokesperson for Ingenium told guest host Derek Fage on The Sam Laprade Show on Monday, May 14. “Certainly, Ingenium has many events going on this week for March Break at each of the three museums to keep the kids entertained with some family fun.”
First up is the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum — and what keeps everyone coming back every spring, Hickey says, are the new baby animals.
Visiting the farm means you’ll see baby goats, twins and triplets of lambs, piglets and 10 newly born baby bunnies.
On top of the animal visits, there are cooking demonstrations with maple syrup, a discovery station where you can learn about the science of maple syrup and winter crafts.
Next up is the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, where visitors can marvel at all the different types of planes throughout the ages and space objects.
Those still weary about going out can always hop on to the museum’s website, where the museum will be hosting a number of activities online for free.
Lastly, there’s the Canada Science and Technology Museum and fan favourite the Crazy Kitchen.
“Our locomotives are always a hit,” Hickey said. “In terms of programming, we have some cute little animations from the National Film Board series called The Great List of Everything.”
There is also a search-and-find game that can be picked up upon entry that encourages kids to be Sherlock Holmes for the day.
