One injured in snowmobile rollover accident on Ottawa River

One person was injured after their snowmobile rolled over on the Ottawa River on Sunday, February 27.

The incident occurred about 200 ft. from shore in Constance Bay, off Bayview Drive and MacRostie Lane.

Ottawa firefighters were called to the scene around 10:40 a.m. They needed to deploy a utility task vehicle (UTV) to access the individual.

The person was assessed, treated for upper-body injuries and administered oxygen. They were then safely brought back to shore by fire crews.

The patient was transferred into the care of the Renfrew Paramedic Service.

Ottawa police issued an ice safety warning in response to the situation.
