Ottawa crews knock down two separate fires Monday evening

There are no injuries following a late night house fire near the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a home on Harmer Avenue South around 10:10 p.m. on Monday, March 20 following a 9-1-1 call from a homeowner reporting smoke coming from the basement — and that a table was on fire.
The dispatcher collected vital information to pass along to responding crews, and once on scene, it was determined that all six occupants had safely evacuated.
A working fire was then declared due to heavy smoke conditions.
The fire was brought under control within five minutes of arriving on scene and it was contained to a basement bedroom.
