A dog is safely back with its owner after it scampered onto the ice of the Ottawa River.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) tweeted, just after noon on Monday, December 20, that it had rescued a dog that had made its way, about 300 yards out onto the ice of the river in the Dunrobin area.
Officials say the pet owner did the right thing and contacted the OFS instead of trying to rescue the dog themselves.
@OttFire has rescued a dog that had broke free from its owner and made its way 300 yards out onto the ice on the Ottawa River in the Dunrobin area. The owner did the right thing by calling us and not trying to go rescue the dog themselves. #OttNews @District6Chief pic.twitter.com/KxxPcczeEK
