Ottawa fire crews rescue dog from Ottawa River in Dunrobin area

Officials say the pet owner did the right thing and contacted the fire department instead of trying to rescue the dog themselves.

A dog is safely back with its owner after it scampered onto the ice of the Ottawa River.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) tweeted, just after noon on Monday, December 20, that it had rescued a dog that had made its way, about 300 yards out onto the ice of the river in the Dunrobin area.

Officials say the pet owner did the right thing and contacted the OFS instead of trying to rescue the dog themselves.
