Ottawa Senators fire CEO not even two months after hiring him

By Mike Vlasveld

Jim Little is no longer the Ottawa Senators' Chief Executive Officer, and the team says it's already started the search for his replacement.

The Board of Directors of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club announced Wednesday that Jim Little had been released, effective immediately, and that the decision was made “as a result of conduct inconsistent with the core values of the Ottawa Senators and the National Hockey League.”

Little was hired on January 10, 2020. He was responsible for the overall business strategy of the organization, with a special focus on marketing and strengthening community relations.

Before Little was brought in, Sens' Owner Eugene Melnyk had been acting as the Senators' CEO since the team parted ways with Tom Anselmi in February 2018.

The hockey club says senior management has assumed the duties of the CEO following Little's firing, and an executive search firm has already begun work on identifying appropriate candidates for the CEO position.

A new CEO is expected to be announced in a few weeks.
