Ottawa Titans add to starting rotation with Taveras signing

By Danielle Bain

The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club have added right-handed pitcher Jose Taveras to the rotation for the upcoming Frontier League season.

The Dominican Republic native spent the 2021 season with the American Association's Kansas City Monarchs where he posted a 5.20 ERA in eight appearances. He pitched 27.2 innings and struck out 19 batters.

Signed in 2013, Taveras reached triple-A in the Philadelphia Phillies organization between 2013-2019.

In addition to Taveras, the Titans have also signed Japanese catcher Mitsuki Fukuda and Canadian right-handed pitcher Dylan Jacober.

Fukuda joins the Titans after four seasons at Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka, Japan.

Calgary native Jacober comes to Ottawa after pitching three seasons at Western University, where he led the Mustangs to the 2019 OUA championship game.

The Ottawa Titans season officially begins May 7 in an away game against the Québec Capitales.
