Senators’ Norris suffers apparent upper-body injury vs. Coyotes, will undergo MRI

By CityNews Staff

Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris left Saturday's game against the Arizona Coyotes with an apparent upper-body injury and did not return.

Taking a face-off halfway through the third period, Norris went down in a heap before skating to the bench on his own and going straight to the locker room.

D.J. Smith provided no update on Norris post-game, but said he will have a better assessment after speaking with the trainers.

Norris will undergo an MRI once the swelling subsides, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported during the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada.

Norris, 23, suffered a shoulder injury last season that kept him sidelined for 15 games. Despite this, he led the Senators in goals with 35 in 66 games. He added 20 assists for 55 points.

Before leaving the game Norris scored his first goal of the season. The Senators went on to defeat the Coyotes 6-2.
