Seven student cases of COVID-19, 12 classes closed at Notre Dame High School

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Catholic School Board says seven students at Notre Dame High School have tested positive for COVID-19, and 12 classes have been closed, but the school has yet to appear on Ottawa Public Health's (OPH) outbreak list.

OPH says a school outbreak will only be declared publicly when there are two or more cases that it believes are linked to one another, or the school environment.

The high school's COVID-19 case count of seven is the highest of any school in Ontario, as of Thursday.

In these situations, OPH says it contacts all parties believed to be at risk of transmission and would instruct people to self-isolate.

As of Thursday, OPH has nine local schools listed as dealing with COVD-19 outbreaks.

In total, the four Ottawa school boards are reporting 81 schools with at least one case of COVID-19
