And the winner is --- Judy Bond!
Judy Bond has been announced as the winning ticket holder for a record-breaking CityNews 101.1 Snowsuit Fund 50/50.
The extraordinarily successful campaign raised over $1-million, the largest 50/50 jackpot in Canadian radio history.
Bond takes home half --- $500,832 in cold hard cash --- while the other half will go to purchase snowsuits local children in need this winter season. .
She bought her ticket at 8:25 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 -- the final day of the draw, and was in a remote meeting less than 30 minutes later when she received the big news.
Bond told The Sam Laprade Show on Jan. 20 that she plans to do some renovations to her house, and is thrilled to be able to support children who need snowsuits.
"I am still in shock," she said. "This money couldn't have gone to a better cause. It has been cold this week and I am looking outside and it's snowing. I am happy that the money is such a high amount for the kids who need snowsuits."
In 2021, the campaign sold over $800,000 in tickets, and the winner took home more than $400,000.
The Snowsuit Fund 50/50 campaign is a Rogers Radio collaboration involving CityNews 101.1, 106.1 Chez, KiSS 105.3 and 92.3 Country.
