Centretown resident Stuart MacKay is already an active member of his community, but he believes he can further advocate for ward 14 with a seat on city council.

MacKay told The Sam Laprade Show with guest host Derick Fage on Friday, August 5, that he helped grow the Centretown Community Association from 50 to 300 residents and reached out to small businesses during the pandemic.

He also founded the Ottawa Transit Riders organization in 2019 to advocate for more affordable, accessible and reliable bus service.

"I think that we've done some good work…we fought against fare increases…but you know, there's only so much advocacy you can do, so that's why I decided to put my name on the ballot because I think that I need to be one of those voices around the table," he said.

MacKay is also advocating for a cleaner Somerset to ensure garbage is regularly cleared, streets are swept and bicycle locks are secure.

"Making the lived environment better," he said. "That's one thing that I really want to focus on is developing that because it's good for residents and it's good for businesses as well."
