Threat closes La Cité campuses for the day

An east-end college has sent its staff and students home for the day after an unspecified threat.
La Cité Collegiale placed its Ottawa and Orléans (Institute of Specialized Trades) campuses into a secure mode on Friday, Dec. 2 after receiving a threat.
Ottawa police said they were in the area of the school investigating the threats, but that there was no danger to the public.
Update: Police have an open and active investigation of threats to a learning institution in this area.
There is no immediate threat to the public. Police and partners are taking all precautions possible.

Few other details were revealed by the school until just after 1:30 p.m., when it announced it was closing both campuses for the rest of the day.
In a statement in French, the school announced on its social media channels that it had made the decision to close for the rest of the day after discussing the situation with Ottawa police, and was sending staff and students home for the rest of the day
