If you're looking for a good reason to indulge your sweet tooth, look no further! Smile Cookies are back at Tim Hortons.
The annual fundraiser sees 100 per cent of proceeds from each $1 icing-topped chocolate chunk cookie go towards more than 550 Canadian charities.
In Ottawa, the money raised goes to the Snowsuit Fund to purchase snowsuits for children 15 years and younger from low-income families.
“Communities coming together during these difficult times is more important than ever,” said Tim Hortons restaurant owner Chris McClusky in a release. “Our restaurants and team members are excited to continue working with The Snowsuit Fund, to raise as much as possible to keep kids warm.”
At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, local Tim Hortons owners will gather with Snowsuit Fund volunteers, members of the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and other special guests at the Tim Hortons located at 3015 Palladium Drive to officially kick-off the 2022 campaign.
Last year, Ottawa Tim Hortons owners sold a record-breaking number of cookies, raising over $207,000 for The Snowsuit Fund, enough to keep over 4,100 children warm.
Danny Kingsbury, Snowsuit Fund board chair, told The Sam Laprade Show on Sept. 21 that he anticipates over 16,000 snowsuits will be delivered for this year's campaign.
“It's a national campaign with over 500 charities that benefit,” he said. “Tim Hortors has always been a big supporter of the campaign.”
