Time for City to apply for court injunction to remove truck convoy protestors: Chiarelli

By CityNews Ottawa

It’s time for the City of Ottawa to apply for a court injunction against the weekend’s truck convoy protesters, mayoral candidate Bob Chiarelli has said.

Chiarelli explained in a tweet on Monday, January 31 that this move would allow for the removal of protesters and their vehicles from city streets.

He also said he's had enough of the civil disobedience and disrespect for Ottawa’s laws and bylaws.

Protesters — truckers and supporters, alike — descended upon the capital on Friday, January 28 to demonstrate against COVID-19 mandates that truckers say are impeding on their ability to do their jobs.

Over the weekend, however, police said they had dealt with unruly crowds and are now investigating several incidents that include the desecration of the War Memorial, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and more.
