Olympiques trounce Saguenéens for 11th straight win

Make that 11 straight wins for the Gatineau Olympiques. 

The hottest team in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) displayed an offensive clinic with an 8-2 road win against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens on Thursday, Feb. 23. 

The Saguenéens opened the scoring just over five minutes into the first period, but it was all Gatineau after that with eight unanswered goals by the visitors. 

The home squad made it 8-2 with under 10 seconds left in regulation. 

Cole Cormier notched a hat trick and added two assists for Gatineau, while Joey Vetrano, Isaac Belliveau with a pair, Riley Kidney and Tristan Luneau also scored for the visiting team. 

Francesco Lapenna made 34 saves in goal for Gatineau. 

With the win, Gatineau clinched a playoff berth. 

The Olympiques end their road trip against the same Chicoutimi team tonight.
