Gatineau police would like to reassure the public that an investigation taking place behind the École secondary du Versant does not compromise the safety of nearby citizens.
Police were called to the school on Cité Boulevard Thursday at about 9:30 p.m. by a lady who seemed confused.
Officers searched the area and located the lady in the wooded portion of the land behind the high school.
The police arrived, the lady had no apparent injury, but was taken to hospital as a preventative measure.
A security perimeter was erected to protect the place where the lady was located.
The Forensics Identity Service as well as Gatineau investigators were deployed to the scene to further investigate.
Other steps were taken in the sector on Friday morning, since the first analysis of the perimeter had been carried out in the evening, which limited visibility.
The perimeter has since been lifted.
The case is under investigation to determine all the circumstances surrounding the event.
At this point, police cannot reveal more details on what has been collected. An updated will be made once possible.
Police are inviting anyone who was in the school’s area last night between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and who believe they have seen or heard something particular or unusual, to contact them at 819-243-4636 ext. 5.
