Gatineau STO driver arrested after refusing to provide a breath sample to police

By Mike Vlasveld

A Gatineau bus driver is facing one charge and has had his driver's license suspended for 90 days after refusing to provide a breath sample to police.

Early Wednesday evening, police were called to the corner of Rue des Laurentides and Rue de Neuville in the Masson-Angers area following multiple calls from public transit users who noticed the bus being driven erratically.

During the traffic stop, officers noticed signs and symptoms that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and urged him to take a breath test. The driver refused to comply with the police order. He was then arrested and later released on a promise to appear in court.

A supervisor from the STO was called to the scene after the arrest and another driver was assigned to the rest of the trip. The passengers on the bus were able to make it to their destinations.
