Police charge youth in Rideau Street stabbing

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) charged a youth after a stabbing incident on Rideau Street on April 28. 
 
At roughly 7:40 p.m., OPS officers responded to the incident that took place on the 1-100 block of Rideau Street, where an argument between an 18-year-old and a 15-year-old took place. The 15-year-old youth stabbed the other person inside a local business and fled. Ottawa paramedics came to the scene and treated the stabbing victim, who was transported to hospital with serious injuries and is now resting in stable condition. 
 
The 15-year-old youth was charged with:
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for committing an offence

He is scheduled to appear in court today.
