Seven replica firearms seized in Overbrook, two teens charged

By Mike Vlasveld

Ottawa police officers uncovered a number of replica firearms at a home in Overbrook after they were called to a dispute on Queen Mary Street.

Investigators say a group of young people were making threats with a knife and what looked like a firearm on Saturday, at 8:10 p.m.

Officers arrested four youth at the scene. Two boys, 14 and 15, have been charged while the other two have been released unconditionally.

Following the execution of a search warrant at the home on Sunday, seven guns, presumed to be paintball and air pistols, were seized.

Police say this was the second incident over the weekend where replica firearms prompted a police response.

Ottawa police want the public to know that when a firearm is used to threaten someone, officers will respond as though the firearm is real (replica or not).
