Stéphane Sarrazin wins in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell

Stéphane Sarrazin has been named the member of provincial parliament (MPP) for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell.

The Progressive Conservative (PC) candidate garnered 42.9 per cent of the votes, unofficially, by Elections Ontario on June 2, 2022.

The riding was previously held by now former MPP Amanda Simard of the Liberals, who finished second in 2022 with just over 38 per cent of the votes.

Simard was elected in the 2018 provincial election as a member of the PC party but left the party on November 29, 2018 after Ontario Premier Doug Ford eliminated the province's French-language services commissioner and cancelled plans for a new French language university. On January 16, 2020, Simard joined the Liberal party.

Sarrazin served as the mayor of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet and the 2021 warden of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
