Renfrew County Animal Centre opens new space designed specifically for dogs

By Alex Black

Renovations are now complete at the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre in Pembroke, including a new space designed specifically for dogs.

In September 2017, the centre moved from Petawawa to its current location at 115 Woodcrest Dr. in Pembroke, which didn't have an area that could be designated for canines.

As a result, the centre has been transferring dogs to other Ontario SPCA animal centres for adoption.

With renovations complete, the centre now has the capacity to adopt dogs and to help community members re-home their pets.

“It took careful planning and consideration for the future needs of our centre and our community, but our vision is now a reality,” says Kate Graham, interim manager, Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre. “Thanks to the support of generous donors who made these renovations possible, the new facility will change the lives of even more animals in Renfrew County for the better.”
