Two early morning fires cause $35,000 in damages

Ottawa Fire was kept busy Saturday morning when two fires were reported 10 minutes apart.
The first call was placed at around 7:25 a.m. by someone who saw smoke at the apartment building at 214 Viewmount Dr.
Eleven firefighters arrived to find the blaze originated on the balcony of a 4th floor apartment and quickly put it out.
Damage is estimated to be around $5,000.
Then six fire trucks and 25 firefighters were called out to 170 Booth St. at around 7:30 a.m. in response to reports of alarms going off and the smell of smoke.
The fire was put out quickly and a cause has not been identified.
Damage from the blaze is in the $30,000 range.
