Memorial for cyclist killed downtown

OTTAWA – An outpouring of support here in the Capital has overwhelmed Mississauga-raised Danielle Nacu’s family.

Danielle’s brother told the Ottawa Citizen, the whole city has rallied around their family.

That support prompted them to organize a memorial service slated for Saturday for people in Ottawa to pay their last respects.

Danielle, a Citizenship and Immigration Canada employee, was killed when she was clipped by a car door and fell into the path of an oncoming vehicle as she biked to work downtown Tuesday.

Ottawa police said so far this year19 drivers have been charged with “dooring.”
