OTTAWA – A snowy start to Wednesday. Ottawa has been hit with its first snowfall of the season, receiving about five centimetres of snow in the city core. Some areas south of the city received close to ten centimetres.
Ottawa Police are reporting 46 accidents between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. this morning. That number is close to the daily average of 60.
The first winter storm is always daunting but people in the capital told 1310News they were ready.
“I don’t have time to think about it I just prepare my kids mainly for winter and I just do what I can to get ready,” said Miriam.
“I walk so it’s not as much of an impact for me as most drivers so just nice boots and walk carefully,” said Martha.
Drivers told 1310News they’ve had winter tires installed for days, even weeks and they said the ice scraper is packed and ready to go for the morning commute.
And even though not everyone is a fan of winter, most people said, ‘this is Ottawa’ and agreed they are used to this kind of weather. They said they’re ready for whatever winter throws their way.
