Ottawa motorists learning lesson about drunk driving

OTTAWA- Police have been out at spot checks throughout the region to help reduce drinking and driving.

According to numbers obtained through the provincial Freedom of Information Act shows Ottawa drivers are convicted 19 percent less than motorists across the province. The Ottawa Citizen reports, in a one year period, 1.4 in every thousand drivers is convicted of impaired driving.

Nearby Renfrew is among the highest in conviction rates in Ontario. Four in every thousand drivers there are convicted.
