Ottawa crime rate drops slightly in 2011: report

OTTAWA, On – The Ottawa police have released their 2011 Annual Report ‘A Year in Review’. Police say Ottawa’s crime rate dropped slightly 2.3 %, from 37,482 incidents in 2010 to 36,622 incidents in 2011.
The online report provides an overview of police activities and initiatives, as well as preliminary crime and performance statistics for the past year.
Police report snapshot:
- 939,598 – Total number of calls received by Ottawa Police Service (911, Call Centre, Info Desk, Switchboard)
- 390,558 – Calls entered into the dispatch system (CAD)
- 264,577 – Calls identified as requiring mobile response
- 78,162 – Total emergency or life threatning situation calls (Priority 1) requiring an on scene police presence
