Frost warning for Ottawa, Valley

OTTAWA – The weather has cooled off to the point that we’ve gone from shorts and t-shirts to jackets and pants — and now a Frost Warning has been issued for Ottawa and the Valley.
Environment Canada issued the warning, Monday, saying widespread frost was likely with the sky expected to clear and the temperature to drop to freezing, overnight.
1310News gardening specialist Frankie Flowers says you have two options to help protect your plants: bring them inside or cover them.
“If you have the ability, bring them indoors, that’s really important,” he said. “If you can put some of the potted plants — the hanging baskets, take them down — put them in the garage.”
If you’re covering your plants, you need to leave some space between the sheet and the foliage, otherwise the frost on the sheet will harm the plants.
Temperatures are expected to warm up by the end of the week.
