Police investigating Ottawa’s fifth murder of 2013

OTTAWA – Police have confirmed that the Major Crime Unit is investigating Ottawa’s fifth murder of the year.
Police and paramedics were called to 119 Ritchie St. Unit 3, west of Britannia Park, after neighbours reported hearing gunshots around 11:30 p.m., Tuesday. A man’s body was found just outside the unit; he had died of gunshot wounds.
Police have now confirmed, the victim was Malik Adjokatcher, 24.
A mother and son live in the low-rise unit that some neighbours are calling “a drug house.” Neighbours told 1310News the unit is often very busy with people coming and going.
“There are newborn babies and kids running around during the day,” Priscilla told 1310News. “I don’t even think parents are going to let their kids come out during the summer.”
One witness told 1310News they saw five men and two women taken away in handcuffs, early Wednesday morning.
