Paul MacLean and Daniel Alfredsson win NHL Awards

Ottawa Senators head coach Paul MacLean won the 2013 Jack Adams NHL Award on Friday in Chicago.

The award was given to this season’s coach of the year.

MacLean led the Sens to a 25-17-6 record, despite missing star players like Jason Spezza,Milan Michalek and former Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson for most of the season.

Ottawa finished 7th in the Eastern-Conference and defeated Montreal in five games in round one of the playoffs before falling to Pittsburgh in the second round.

Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson won the Mark Messier Award.

The award is given to the player who leads by positive example through on-ice performance, motivation of team members and a dedication to community activities and charitable causes.
