What’s open and closed on Easter weekend in the capital

OTTAWA – Easter weekend means closures around the region.

All LCBO and Beer Stores are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but some are open on Easter Monday.

Most grocery stores and retail outlets are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday, reopening Easter Monday.

Banks are closed Friday and reopen Easter Monday.

In Gatineau, most stores and malls are open Easter Monday.

City client services:

Ottawa City Hall and client service centres are closed on Good Friday, as well as Easter Monday. Business resumes Tuesday.

The City of Ottawa Provincial Offences Court, located at 100 Constellation Cres., is closed Good Friday and Easter Monday. Business resumes on Tuesday.

The City of Ottawa 311 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters.

Garbage and recycling:

There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Good Friday or Easter Monday. Collection will be delayed by one day for the week.

The Trail Waste Facility is closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Transit:

OC Transpo will operate a Sunday schedule on Good Friday, and run a reduced schedule on Easter Monday, with the cancellation of all 600 numbered school routes and supplementary school trips.

Recreation:

Many pools, fitness centres and some arenas are open Easter Monday for public swimming, skating and fitness classes with modified schedules.

Many registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas are cancelled on Easter Monday, however, clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions will apply.

Cultural:

The Billings Estate National Historic Site, Pinhey’s Point Historic Site, Fairfields Heritage Property and Cumberland Village Heritage Museum are open for special events on Saturday. The Nepean Museum is also open on Saturday for Easter activities, but is be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Arts centres, archives, galleries and theatres are closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.

All dental clinics are closed.
